Rolníci v Pákistánu jsou nuceni prodávat svou úrodu za nepatrný zlomek ceny. What is Fairtrade?
One advantage of Fairtrade is that anyone can take part in it. Fairtrade guarantees that producers in Africa, Asia and Latin America receive fair and stable prices for their products. Under current ‘normal’ business practices, farmers in developing countries receive only a small fraction of the price from coffee and tea that is sold in shops. Multinational food companies whom the individual producers depend upon take the largest percentage of the profits. Fairtrade practices help to fix this equation.
Fairtrade guarantees producers and cooperatives a wholesale price that covers more than the production costs. Quite simply it offers a better deal. The cooperative’s profits can be invested into infrastructure, school constructions, libraries and hospitals. Fairtrade’s goal is to help people in developing countries to have better living conditions. It improves their children’s chances of having a better future by receiving at least a basic education.
Plus, there are more Fairtrade products than people often realize to choose from now.
